About
Hi, welcome to my little corner of the K-blogging world. I’m surprised and touched that you are visiting, and I hope you’ll return.
I’m a Korean drama/movie addict and editor with WITHS2, the best Korean fansub group in the world. I love watching K-dramas and movies, but I love discussing and writing about them even more. This blog is where I share my little notes on what I have been or am watching. I may occasionally delve into something deeper, but most of the time I’m just prattling, hence the title of the blog. Also, some of my most-loved dramas and movies may never make it into a special post here because I’m so blown away by them I don’t know what to say. Love can do that to you, leave you tongue-tied. I’m passionate about literature and history, but if I could do it all over, I would have opted for film studies as well. Math is the bane of my life, and anything overly technical kills my brain cells instantly.
I would love to read your comments, so do drop me or my guest bloggers a note. Thank you so much for stopping by!

wow thundie..
havent seen u ard . just happened to stumble on your blog! lol.. seems like u have been very busy.
rainy!
hi! my first time to post a comment in any blog. i’m a fairly recent kdrama viewer (2yrs) and rely on the subbed series that i can get my hands on. for the past two years i’ve watched about a hundred and enjoyed 98% because watching them, i was prepared to suspend my disbelief and did not have to be concerned about the what, who and especially why of the series that i have seen. i am fascinated by the sound and the nuances of the korean language that’s why i don’t even watch the dubbed series that find their way here. the kdrama relieves me from the strain of legal work, and regardless of what pedants may say, is another window to another culture, don’t you think? that is why i am envious of, and thankful for your skills in language translation, because non-korean viewers like me get immersed in the kdrama just as those who are born to the language.
i enjoy your insights (what i’ve read so far from the jisub addicts site, and elswhere in this bog, including your hits/misses 2007 article in dramabeans-this one was the first of yours that i read months ago but did not forget), which are sometimes tongue-in-cheek, sometimes painfully controlled but never acrid, thus allowing the viewer to make up his own mind about the same topic.
i am rambling, but i’m really glad i stumbled upon this blog.
cheers!
Hi rainy, what a pleasant surprise. How are you? How did you stumble on this blog?
Yes, I’ve been busy, but it’s a good kind of busy, even a tad stressful kind of busy. ^^ Right now I wish I have two heads and two pairs of hands. I’m supposed to be working on subs, but my head’s so full of my next blog post, so I’m going back and forth between the two. Aigoo, I must learn to concentrate on one thing at a time.
Must come visit again, okay?
Hi piswe
Thank you for choosing Thundie’s Prattle for your first ever blog comment. I’m touched and honored.
You watched about a hundred kdramas in the last two years? Wow, that’s pretty amazing! Were most of them subbed by WITHS2?
*blush* So you read my first guest post on dramabeans. I’ve gotten a lot more rambly and grumpy since then. (But so has Dahee! ^^)
What do you mean by “painfully controlled”? Did you sense that I was about to burst trying not to be acerbic? Hehe.
I do feel strongly (in a negative way) about certain dramas and actors, but I know there are lots of people who adore with the same intensity what I despise. I may roll my eyes in private, but in public (in my writing) I try my best to be honest but not hurtful. I don’t always succeed, but I do try.
I’m not saying this just to sound angelic (far from it), but I don’t think I accomplish anything by insulting people. We’re all different and it’s wonderful that we have diverse opinions. I understand that people are naturally protective of their idols (I am, too), so I try to be sensitive in my choice of words. It’s a thin line and I’m still learning every day to be true to myself (in my posts here and elsewhere) and at the same time to be considerate toward others.
Thanks again!
aww thundie congrats for your blog (I swear I just saw this entry today lol). wish you all the best and I thank you for providing the time and effort to prattle about Kdramas and movies.
“Also, some of my most-loved dramas and movies may never make it into a special post here because I’m so blown away by them I don’t know what to say.”
you’re the 1st person who ever says this! If I loved something (be it a drama or a movie) I babble like a crazy person about it everywhere lol I just wanna spread the love.
maybe the only drama that I couldn’t say anything about was “Time of Dog and Wolf”. I just can’t find enough words to describe how much I love it! made me a Junki’s fan in no time. so I’m patiently waiting for your VERY long draft about it! PLEASE leave it as it is cause I’m sure I’ll devour every single word about it.
““Man, no one’s commenting; does that mean this stuff is boring people to tears?”
LOLs oh my gosh NO that’s not true! maybe sometimes people don’t find something to say or simply are spellbound by your great insight that they don’t know what to say! well to me, the best things are the hardest to express in words, and this is how I feel when I read your prattles.
*hugs*
Hi selva!
Thank you for the sweet comments. *hugs*
It’s true. I find it really hard to write about some of my favoritest dramas and movies. Take Shin Don, for example. I don’t think one post will do it justice, so I actually have a series planned. I have the titles all ready, but I can’t seem to progress beyond that, aigoo. I love the drama so much I don’t know what to say about it. Maybe X might write about Shin Don in detail one day (he loves it as much as I do). If he does, then I won’t write because I won’t be 1/10 as eloquent or insightful as our resident sageuk guru. Maybe I’ll just post lots of images instead!
Ah, that Time Between Dog and Wolf draft. It’s 6000+ words but utterly messy and unfit for public consumption in its present state. Needs major editing first. I’ll work on it as soon as I have some free time.
What other gems are you watching now?
hi. came across your blog from the 1n2dfansubs with the intention of reading the episode summary for brilliant inheritance ep 14, although i have already watched it. turns out to be a really detailed re-cap, more like the whole script really. but i cant help but nod and laugh at some of the comments you made. ended up going through the rests of your other posts for the past 45mins and i must say your writing is addictive to read! Ha! Oh well, i’ve got exams in 3 days and i really should stop myself from immersing in any more dramas for the next 3 days. Keep on writing. you’re awesome! Cheers.
Hi spinningz
I’m sending you a truckload of “Ace Your Exams” vibes, so you’re going to do well for sure!
Thanks so much for the compliment. After a day of unpacking (and still not done, aigoo!), your words make me forget all the fatigue and lack of sleep. THANK YOU! I’ll do my best to keep writing BL recaps (and other kdrama and movie prattles) that are worth your time.
Just wanted to say congratulations on your blog. Just a few weeks?! WOW!! I really love your blog…keep up the great work!

I visit your blog for the first time. I really appreciate people like you who analyze K drama. I’m a beginner watching K drama, or actually, I find myself starting to admire and love korean drama! Nice to meet you!

Hi Thundie,
Great job!!!
I enjoyed reading through your blog & think that u r absolutely brilliant. Keep up the good work. Gonna come here often besides Dramabeans to look up the reviews b4 deciding to watch a certain drama. When I first started watching Kdrama, I thought they can do no wrong (that’s how addicted I was) but we know better now don’t we…..hehehehehe!!!
Thanks & cheers!!!!
Hey there, I googled “brilliant legacy” and came across your post on one of the episodes. IT IS FREAKING AWESOME. you had me laughing like mad in the office while keeping my head and hair down so that no one could see me do that. Love your wicked sense of humour! =) keep up the good work!
Hi thundie,
Was just dropping by and whoa, what happened? Blog went over the dark side.^^ Literally. Love the new layout and the new 3-member team. Question: would you consider featuring some music, alternative or indie here? Second question: will you recap My Girlfriend is A Gumiho? hehe.
Will definitely check out Road No. 1. Have always loved period or war epic movies so this is up my alley. Take care and keep up the great work. Don’t ever lose that sense of humor.
This new layout is beautiful! Very artistic, yet professional. And practical. I like it. Congratulations!
